Taken By: Paul Tixier
Paul Tixier is a wildlife photographer that mostly specializes in photographing killer whales. He is a 26 year old French PhD student who studies these whales in an attempt to hopefully one day understand why they behave the way they do towards commercial long-line fishing vessels. While the picture I chose does not feature a whale, it was taken in the same sub-arctic region in the Indian Ocean. I loved the natural framing in the picture, the vignetting caused by the odd light refraction, and the single isolated subject. It all contributes towards what I consider a fantastic picture. Definitely give Tixier’s photostream a glance.
