Ridley Creek State Park is a 2600 acre park located in Delaware County, Pennsylvania. It offers 12 miles of hiking trails and is a safe haven for photographers who live in the suburban towns surrounding Philadelphia. Why? Mainly because it provides plenty of opportunities for wildlife photography, as well as the occasional scenic landscape. There are also several old and decrepit buildings found throughout the park, and although it’s considered dangerous to enter them, they can still be photographed from the exterior to provide unique photographs that peak into a lifestyle that once was. Living up to its name, the park also has a creek running through it with several small waterfalls (no more than 3-4 feet tall). Finally, there is a small dam found near the entrance to the park, that provides a great opportunity to test out your long-exposure photography skills. Also, don’t forget to check out the ‘mansion’. It has a small garden area that is perfect for macro photography in the spring.
